Full grading methodology →Our independent screening heuristic starts at 100 only when required data is sufficient. Otherwise the report is marked NR (not rated), not A. It is not an FMCSA rating or dispatch approval:
- Out-of-Service Deviations: Penalties applied when driver OOS exceeds 5.47% or vehicle OOS exceeds 21.55% (computed from the active FMCSA SMS release).
- Public Acute/Critical Indicators: −15 per indicated category. Missing values are not a clean record; these indicators are not the full SMS alert system.
- Fleet-Proportional Crashes: Uses fatal crash event counts and total crash records per 100 power units, not the number of people killed or injured. Unknown event counts are not substituted.
- Legal Credentials: −40 for an explicitly inactive USDOT registration; otherwise −20 for an explicitly inactive docket. Unknown is not inactive. Missing insurance filings never deduct points.
